Strength and Steel by Henry Hoovestal
Henry Hoovestal is a local artist, welder and metalworker as well as a navigator on tankers and other vessels. This exhibition features his remarkable handcrafted stainless steel sculptures as well as visually stimulating drawings that were made as a creative outlet while working on the ships away from home and family. This methodical and hypnotic ink work helped him stay creative on the road and at sea, until he could return to his loved ones. These drawings combined with his talent as a metal sculptor will fill the Chessman Gallery until September 12. Open Thursday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. An opening reception is scheduled for July 29 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chessman Gallery with wine available and music from a local band Hot Club of Beachtown providing the music.
EXHIBITION DATES: July 15 to September 1, Thursday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Victoria Biedron art exhibition in the hallway of the LCCC
Local artist Victoria Biedron will exhibit paintings in the main hallway of the City of Lincoln Cultural Center through September 1. Victoria offers her exciting non-representational abstract painted forms, which convey feelings, moods and organic representations of nature. Each is an expression of freedom, coming from deep within the artist transferred to the canvas. Victoria uses acrylics, charcoal, soft pastels, paper and mark making, the use of scraping tools gives texture to the paintings and hopefully all of these tools evoke emotion in the spectator. Her work grows through experimentation and contact with her inner life. She hopes you enjoy her “heartfelt summaries.” These new abstract works can be seen with the new exhibition at the Chessman Gallery, Strength and Steel by Henry Hoovestal. Both are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday through Sunday.
