Municipal Ward: Volunteers Wanted for Peterborough Art Gallery Board of Trustees

The Art Gallery of Peterborough (AGP) is looking for volunteers for its Board of Directors and Committees. If you are an art lover and enthusiastic about supporting the regional art gallery, AGP wants you to consider applying.

“Our Peterborough community is changing,” states the AGP call for entries, “You can help The Art Gallery of Peterborough deliver programs that will speak to your friends and neighbors. »

In addition to the Board of Directors, volunteers are also sought for three committees: Fundraising and Development, Acquisitions, and the Diversity, Inclusion and Equity Advisory Committee. AGP encourages applications from members of equity-seeking communities; including women, racialized and Indigenous people, people with disabilities, and people of all sexual orientations and gender identities/expressions, regardless of age.

The YES Youth and Family Shelter, located at 196 Brock Street, is hosting a virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) Thursday at 6 p.m. Community members are invited to attend and hear from the new CEO, Aimee Le Lagadec, the Board of Directors and YES staff. Children’s bikes required

B!KE: The Peterborough Community Bike Shop is looking for old and unused children’s bikes. If you find any while cleaning out your garage or shed, you might consider donating them to the Kids’ Bike Build, which will take place on Sunday, April 10.

B!KE volunteers and mechanics from other local bike shops will volunteer their time to repair and check the bikes. They will then be provided free of charge to local organizations working with children and young people. Previous events have seen between 40 and 50 bikes refurbished and donated to organizations such as the New Canadians Centre, Salvation Army, Youth Unlimited and YES Shelter.

“Two of our guiding values ​​are affordability and sustainability,” says event organizer Riley Hillman. “By refurbishing used bikes and getting them into the hands of kids who need them, we tick both of those boxes.”

Bike donations will be accepted anytime before April 10 and can be dropped off at B!KE, located at 293 George Street, during business hours. Donated bikes must have all major parts such as wheels and handlebars. For more information, visit communitybikeshop.org or call 705-775-7227.
