The Kelowna Art Gallery is looking for artist proposals for the new ArtMart vending machine.

The vending machine will showcase original works in a variety of media focused on artist community engagement for a purchase of $ 5 to $ 50.

“We encourage artists to think outside the box and dream big while creating something small,” said Christine May, curator at the Kelowna Art Gallery.

“Our hope is that ArtMart provides a vehicle for artists to evoke something new, engage and delight our visitors, and financially support local artists,” she said.

Artistic mediums that can be found in ArtMart include jewelry, pins, games, sculptural objects, stamps and stickers.

Artists selected to participate in the program will receive honoraria, funds to help them with their work, and a commission on all sales of their work.

ArtMart was a successful concept of the Alternator Center for Contemporary Art, according to a press release from the Kelowna Art Gallery.

“Although we have had previous editions of ArtMart here, this will be the first time that we have hosted the vending machine in a nearby location. We are excited about this partnership with the Kelowna Art Gallery and can’t wait to see what their members come up with, ”said Alternator Artistic Director Lorna McParland.

Artist submissions are welcome until December 3.

The ArtMart vending machine will be located at the Kelowna Art Gallery from January 15 to April 15, 2022.

The project was made possible with support from the Central Okanagan Foundation.
