First Floor Art Gallery opens at Haywards Heath: Award-winning photographer showcases his work at Town Hall
Attendees said they were impressed with the opening exhibition, which featured work by award-winning Sussex photographer Josh Elphick.
City Mayor Howard Mundin said it was an honor to open the gallery.

Mr Mundin added that there were “tremendous benefits” to visiting an art gallery, including positive effects on people’s health and well-being.
The first floor art gallery is brought to Haywards Heath by Creative Mid Sussex, a community benefit venture which aims to improve creativity, health and wellbeing in the area.
Creative Mid Sussex launched the initiative with support from Haywards Heath Borough Council, local businesses, the Royal Society for the Arts, Creative UK, East Sussex College Group and Waitrose plc.
The town’s mayor said Creative Mid Sussex had put in “an enormous amount of work” and thanked Nigel Allyson-Ryan and Alastair McPherson for their dedication to getting the initiative and the gallery off the ground.
“I know they have many more plans to increase creativity and the arts available to the entire Mid Sussex community, as well as an aspiration to put us on the map as a vibrant and cultural destination,” he said. -he declares.
“I would also like to thank the very talented Josh Elphick,” Mr. Mundin added.
“At just 19, he held his first exhibition at a gallery opening, won a major art prize and exhibited his work at Waterloo, Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath stations.”
Mr Mundin said Haywards Heath City Council was delighted to support the initiative.
