POUGHKEEPSIE – The Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center, located at 9 and 12 Vassar Street in Poughkeepsie, NY, will be presenting three new diverse exhibitions in their visual art galleries from January 7, 2022 through February 25, 2022. Featured in the hallway The art gallery at 9 Vassar Street will be Jim Bennett and at 12 Vassar Street will be Ada Monica Sperling in the Reception Gallery and Brett Gehrke in the Hancock Gallery. The public art opening receptions will be on Friday January 7, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Hallway Art Gallery for Mr. Bennett and in the Reception Gallery for Ms. Sperling with another reception on Friday the 14th. January 2022 from 5 pm to 7 pm in the Hancock Gallery for Mr. Gehrke.
Jim Bennett is an artist, author and teacher with a prolific career spanning five decades. . His works have been exhibited at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Poughkeepsie Underwear Factory, Gallery 330, Art Centro, Mid-Hudson Heritage Center, Arts Mid-Hudson, and Barrett Art Center.
Ada Monica Sperling is an artist who uses mixed media – pencil, ink, pastel, sepia, watercolor, gouache, acrylic and oil – to present a style that encompasses different aspects of herself. His works have been exhibited at the Alliance Française (Valparaiso, Chile), Meyer, Strong & Jones (NYC), Kehler-Liddell Gallery (New Haven, CT) and the Barrett Art Center.
Brett Gehrke, originally from the Hudson Valley, is a retired educator who has created illustrations in a variety of media that cover a multitude of topics. Mr. Gehrke is a graduate of SUNY New Paltz. His works are in public and private collections and have been exhibited at the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild and online at the Arts Society of Kingston.
The Hallway Art Gallery at 9 Vassar Street is open Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Hancock Gallery and Reception Gallery at 12 Vassar Street are open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but visitors should call the Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center office at (845) 486-4571 to access. .
