FC Buzz Weekend from January 28 to 30, 2022
HamletHub is proud to partner with the Fairfield County Cultural Alliance and FCBuzz to elevate arts and culture in Fairfield County! Each week, search for a list of weekend events and activities! The Fairfield County Cultural Alliance celebrates the vibrancy and diversity of arts and culture in the 15 towns of our Fairfield County coastal region and publishes our free E-Buzz newsletter every Wednesday with a selection of the hundreds of events posted on our website by our members.
As we wind down January, it looks like the perfect weekend to recharge your creative spirit with the following offerings of art, music, movies and more.
First of all, several exciting exhibitions have just opened in the city:
Until February 18, celebrate Black History Month with Arts Alliance of Stratford at the Sterling House community center in Stratford. The exhibition, Through Our Eyes: A Celebration of Local Black Artists, highlights the creativity of local black artists.
Silvermine Arts Center welcomes 22 new members to its Artist Guild with its annual New Members Exhibition, featuring an extensive survey of contemporary works. This New Canaan exhibition features emerging artists creating conversations in the art world. Collectively, their pieces present a body of work that is both collectible and accessible to experienced and novice collectors alike. On view from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., until February 25.
Adger Cowans: Sense and Sensibility is now on view in Bellarmine Hall Galleries at the Fairfield University Art Museum through June 18. Cowans is a celebrated photographer whose extensive work includes the civil rights movement, jazz musicians, landscape, and artistic studies of the human form, water, and light. This exhibition, curated by Halima Taha, showcases Cowans’ use of photography to articulate the beauty of the human condition and the world we live in, with over fifty images from her illustrious career.
Through March 12, MoCA Westport and the Westport Arts Advisory Committee (WAAC) invite you to the Westport Idea Exhibition, a new exhibition featuring selected works from Westport’s Public Art Collections (WestPAC). This exhibit allows the public to enjoy selections of over 2,000 WestPAC artworks in a public location. Most of these works are housed in public schools and municipal buildings, not always accessible to the public. An exhibition opening reception will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 6 to 8 p.m. at MoCA Westport.
