Carson City Student Art Exhibitions as well as the 15th Annual Dia De Los Muertos Event | News from Carson City, Nevada

The Nevada State Museum will be holding a Day of the Dead celebration this weekend from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 5 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 6. As part of the event and celebration, art students from Carson High School, Pioneer Academy and parents from Empire Elementary School will exhibit Dia De Los Muertos altars.

Additionally, CHS Ceramics 1 students will have their Calavera masks on display at Western Nevada College from November 22 at the Bristlecone building.

The artwork created for the event was designed to remember and honor loved ones who have passed away. Traditionally colorful and decorative, altars offer favorite foods, drinks, or special items that may have belonged to the deceased to help the returning spirit relive its memories. Works of art can also represent a general celebration of ancestors from the past, celebrities, or beloved pets.

This event is open and free to the public and features sugar skull crafts, folk dancers, and food trucks.
