“The Hot Button” — September 3 through August 3, 2023, Hot Button Gallery, 129 E. German St., Shepherdstown, W.Va. Carol Williams is exhibiting textiles and posters that reflect her passion for social responsibility through art communication. “My work with fabrics and buttons is a reorientation of the traditionally feminine art form of sewing and quilting, which has historically been classified as a craft,” she says. “I believe that quilting, described as a folk art associated with the activity of rural, black and white women, has been underestimated as the true art form that it is.
