The show that Sean Altman calls "Jewmongous" began with a challenge from a rabbi.

"'You never reference your Jewishness in your songs,'" Altman recalls a clergyman's observation about the tunes Altman had written for his old
band, the cutting-edge New York a cappella outfit Rockapella.

The rabbi said Altman should write a song about Passover. By the time Altman was done, there were songs about anti-Semitism, mixed marriages and circumcision too.

Featuring Altman on guitar, "Jewmongous" takes a satirical look at Altman's religion and culture. "A lot of the humor comes from me trying
desperately to connect with my people by singing songs in lieu of going
to synagogue," says Altman.
