From July 2 to August 7, the Beverly Arts Center is hosting a show by members of The American Jewish Artists' Club. The theme of the show is A Gathering of Waters: Artists engage with forms of "water" cited in Jewish text. The motif of water is an important and prominent one in Jewish culture. In the Tanach, water is one of the most explored elements from the splitting of the waters above and below to the flood to the parting of the seas, to name just a few examples. Water is also a compl… Continue

I think that today's Jewish musician should be able to interact with the music of our past. This concept can easily be taken as far as the oldest melodies and lyrics. From Darius Milhaud's setting of the Shabbat shacharit service in the mid-20th century to a variety of Kol Nidré arrangements to Idan Raichel's visions of Song of Songs and Psalms, int… Continue

Our friends at the The Idelsohn Society have released their Exodus 2.0: Passover Mix 2010. Its just under an hour of classic Passover songs, from the comedic to the creative. Beat and rhyme wizard Socalled features prominently, having already released his own Hip Hop Haggadah on Jdub. There are other gems mixed in, including Steven Bernstein's "Manishtana" and Moe Jaffe & Henry Tobias, "Passover Time on the Range." Give it a listen:
Avi Fox-Rosen is known for his more klezmerish work, but you gotta love this nod to Queen. Some of us may appreciate his whimsy. Some of us just like bikes and others (of either sex) may like hot girls. And then there are furries. But I digress.
Here is something yummy and fun for all of us. Because its ADAR!
Avi Fox-Rosen's CD Release Party is Wednesday June 3rd @ Union Pool, Williamsburg, BROOK-LYN.… Continue

He's trying to get this done in time for Comicon in May so help a brother out.… Continue
