Synagogue Havurah for Education Music and the Arts

Synagogue Havurah for Education Music and the Arts (S.H.E.M.A.) provides congregations with a set of informal education programs centered on arts and culture to inspire members' explorations of Jewish identity and community.

Each S.H.E.M.A. Arts Havurah is centered around a set of monthly Conversations on Jewish Culture held at the synagogue for members of the congregation. They cover topics like "Hip Hop and Havdalah," "Broadway's Bar Mitzvah" and "Reggae and Rugelach." Following discussion in person, attendees are encouraged to continue the conversation with members S.H.E.M.A. Arts Havurahs throughout the region using KFAR's online discussion boards.

Participatory workshops and programs can be added as needed to provide more opportunities for experiential arts learning, such as Israeli folk dance, Klezmer workshops, Jewish songleading and more in addition to the congregation's existing efforts.

In addition, participating congregations are provided with tools for deeper interaction with KFAR Jewish Arts Center and its promotional resources, including:
