Shalechet Aviv's movements have roots in Romanian Hora, the Arabic Dabke and traditional Yemenite life cycle celebrations. Sometimes for a splash of extra flavor, movements are more modern, borrowed from swing or salsa or even hip-hop.
This elegant troupe, named "Spring Queen," has traveled near and far to perform in a folk style reminiscent of dances from Eastern Europe and parts of the Middle East.
Unlike traditional folk dances handed down from previous generations without known creators, Israeli folk dancing came to life approximately in conjunction with the modern State of Israel.
Israeli folk dances were introduced as way to create a new culture in an old-new land, combining dance cultures with the music and themes of modern Israel.
These dances were created to be danced in Israel by Israelis, young and old, as a way of celebrating the spirit of the new country, embraced not only in Israel but throughout the world.
Come experience a taste of Israeli culture.
Admission to the festival is FREE
