Event Description

Since the 1980's many Seder plates have seen the addition of an Orange to the symbolic foods eaten on Passover. The additional fruit symbolizes those who for centuries were left out of participation in Jewish ritual life- namely women.

This Pesach, KFAR is pleased to present Oranges on Seder Plates, a showcase featuring three powerhouse female performers.

Girls in Trouble
Led by violin-looper and singer Alicia Jo Rabins, Girls in trouble combines mysticism, a looping pedal, ancient women's tales and poetry to make beautiful songs about love & leprosy.

The band's material draws on Rabins' affinity for punk shows, classical violin training, and two years studying the Bible in Jerusalem while playing in rock clubs at night. Alicia is also a member of the klezmer-rock band Golem.

Stereo Sinai

Stereo Sinai is the Good Book like you've never heard it before. If Kelly Clarkson and Gnarls Barkley had been on the mountain with Moses, they would have come down sounding a lot like Stereo Sinai. Mixing conservation with innovation, the band is working to lend renewed relevance to ancient texts. Stereo Sinai's "Biblegum Pop" is the flip side to Ray Charles' and Kanye West’s pioneering steps, fusing traditional gospel music with modern themes.

Naomi Less
Naomi Less, Jewish Chick Rocker, delivers an edgy-pop rock show with soulful melodies and tribal lyrics. Naomi has dedicated her life to putting out music that promotes the full inclusion of un-objectified girls and women In 2008, she founded, Jewish Chicks Rock to inspire more Jewish girls to pick up instruments and express themselves through rock music. Whether with her full-band or in a solo-acoustic show, Naomi amplifies positive messaging through words of hope, strength and confidence to her fans. Naomi is also a founding company member of Storahtelling and serves as its Director of Education and Training.
